In the Korean drama, Boyfriend on Demand follows Seo Mi-rae, a busy webtoon producer who feels tired of her lonely and stressful life. To escape reality, she subscribes to a futuristic virtual-reality dating service where she can create and interact with perfect “boyfriends.” While the digital world gives her the romance she always dreamed of, things become complicated when her real-life coworker Park Gyeong-nam begins to develop genuine feelings for her, forcing Mi-rae to choose between artificial perfection and real love.
